Yesterday Chateau forwarded me the news that terrible mudslides have been killing people and destroying lovely inns all over dear Ilha Grande, the place I previously considered the only safe spot in Rio.
I definitely recognize that mudbliterated coastal establishment pictured above. I'm pretty sure where we stayed is safe, it was kind of sort of away from the hills...but I can also imagine myself sitting on the bed with Chateau, having Brazilian sketch comedy explained to me and then BLAM! destruction! This is scary, I'm not making jokes. I mean, I am making jokes, but not to be funny.
