Basically, we wanted to brutalize people and have each song punch people in the face and not let up until they were choking on their own blood. None of this eyeliner-wearing, cupcake stuff—just putting listeners’ open ears on the curb and stomping on their heads. - Sal Gallegos, Some Girls
Last night, after a two month break from shows, I went and saw Some Girls at North Six. It was something else. And I didn't realize it until the end of the show, but the singer only had one arm.
It was really intense, really loud, but kind of good natured, if you can imagine such a thing being possible. As you can see above, the show ended with the singer pulling most of the audience onto the stage and then moving down to the floor to chant "Ape." It was kind of like a pep rally, or maybe the end of a high school movie where the misfits win the battle of the bands.

Look at all those hipsters in their black hoodies and Chuck Taylors. Gotta love Brooklyn.
