Best Lineup News

Generally I hold Coachella in the same regard as Sundance--I go "pfffft" at both of them, mostly because I figure I'll never go to either (I sort of forget that I went to Sundance once while at the Y)

But that was only until the Coachella lineup was announced today. Now I'm already wondering if this might be how I want to spend my Golden Birthday weekend.

Why the change of heart? Well, if the bold print weren't obvious enough, mainly because the Jesus and Mary Chain are reuniting for the festival--and if they aren't touring (and probably even if they are), I really need to be in the desert on the evening of April 27th. It doesn't hurt that I could catch Interpol and Jarvis Cocker that same night, either.

And then Saturday the 28th I can get my Arcade Fire on after dealing with the ultimate dance/dance-rock lineup of the Rapture/LCD Soundsystem/!!!/and MSTRKRFT.

So that's something I'll be thinking about for the next few months, whether or not I want to do this thing.

Maybe you should come to Phoenix and join us in our rented RV. It could be fun.

Not to mention The Decemberists and Girl Talk!!! You have to go. If I didn't have finals that week, I'd also HAVE to go.

Saturday is the day to go it would appear. Although, I would really like to see Rage back together again.

I never cared about Rage Against the Machine until Guitar Hero 2.

I hope I don't get booed for this, but Explosions in the Sky is also pretty cool, if you dig the instrumental thing...

In all this bold-faced madness you guys seem to be overlooking the pinnacle of the whole festival: Crowded House on Sunday! Go Aotearoa!!!!! And if you're lucky you might even get ol' Finn to play some Split Enz! Yeah!!!

i wanna know how Willie got thrown in to the mix. i actually think he and damian rice might sound awesome together. but still...it just seems a bit random to me. but than again, i thought madonna headlining last year was a bit odd.

Willie Nelson is totally indie.
