Perhaps I am simple, but this movie was always surprising and entertaining me. It had the best title card I think I've ever seen. The movie was funny in ways I never expected (what I mean is: I didn't expect that British family.) Cate Blanchett was a much better villain in this than in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I loved it whenever she took care of her teeth. But I liked the sadist in the track suit even more, villainwise. And a 90's Range Rover is a great choice for a villain vehicle. And when the commandos come to Hanna's cabin at night and the Chemical Brothers' score kicks in for the first time? That was really intense. If I was in college I'd probably have a whole list of fairy tale parallels in this film, but I'm not in college, so I can only say: it sure felt like there were a lot of fairy tale parallels in this film, that's the sensation I was getting.
Just want to be another person recommending this movie to you, that's all.

Sarah and I just saw this last night. And, it was great. I wasn't crazy about the music a lot of the time. But the action was solid. Extremely good fight choreography. And Cate Blanchett was terrific.
However, can you believe it was PG-13? That to me was insane. Not that there was anything particularly gory or overly sexified and swears were limited to one F-word right at the beginning. But there is enough disturbing/intense imagery to really scare the bejeezus out of a 13 year old.
I think the Dark Knight forever changed the level of intensity I'm expecting in a PG-13.
The Dark Knight also taught me that terrible things are about to happen when a villain asks for/presents a pen or pencil. Hanna reinforced.
And there was a time in this movie that I thought someone was going to get a metal bar through the face or down the throat*, so I guess I was relieved they were only stabbed through the chest with it (off screen)?
*I blame Infinite Jest, of all books, for this.
And the psychedelic mushroom St. Sebastian scene. Intense.
And yes, Dark Knight was also another movie that I am shocked that it got a PG-13 rating after seeing it. I did appreciate that in the rating for DK they put "menace" in the breakdown of why it was rated what it was. Because that movie was menacing as hell.
And Eric Bana, totally great, right?
