I'm proud of my buddy Pete for really letting BLT Burger have it this week in the Times. I ate there with my brother Greg when he was in town a few weeks ago and, while I enjoyed my rocky road milkshake, there really wasn't anything special about the place. While it's non-specialness isn't a crime in itself, it was absolutely offensive how special the restaurant acted. And that's why it deserves to be called a "cynically contrived approximation" of a burger joint. It's the sort of place that may leaved you with a fairly good first impression, but after some thought, you decide it's lousy. Mostly I'm bugged that it took them about 25 minutes to bring us our burgers and it wasn't even busy when we were there.

Hmmm, I guess I am still in the preliminary stages of liking the place because I was pleased. Did you get a regular hamburger or the more expensive angus beef burger? The angus was hot delish. It didn't take long to get our food either...
Oh, and Rocky Road didn't have anything on the Peanut Butter shake.
i agree with you. pete should try burger supreme in provo.
have you gone to that bryant park burger stand that's supposed to be so great? it calls to me.
You mean the Shake Shack. That place doesn't really matter to me.
that was withering
well, other people really, really like it. there's just a burger joint vs shake shack mentality and i'm a burger joint guy.
