Best Tales from My Home Sweet Home

My room has the fire escape. Yeah.

Life at the new place is nice, but tricky. Friday night I came home and my bed was gone...apparently there was a misunderstanding (by me) and it had been claimed by a fellow one of my roommates was subletting to. No problem, I just whipped up a bed of cardboard and slept as soundly as a fault line. (Yes, I talked about this in the last post.) Saturday night I came home from work with my new airmattress and, what's this, the apartment was locked up and I didn't have an apartment apartment key yet (but I did have an apartment building key...listen, it's a complicated process getting all these things, they come from different offices.) And my roommates were gone. For the weekend. Again, I believe there was a misunderstanding (by me). The super was uncontactable. I feared I'd be headed downtown to find lodging for the night but then I remembered I had friends that lived nearby, friends good enough to have spare beds. This Upper West Side, it is full of good people. The next morning around 9:30 I got in touch with my super, got into my apartment, and got my own apartment apartment key. Smooth sailing from here, right?

I'm not going to bother you with the intricacies of our laundry room. Not in this post, at least.

Years ago in a land far away I lived at my office for 5 weeks. Lost one roomate to an expired visa and a second to love. Followed roomate #1 across the pond and never came back. Turncoat.

I know this is unrelated...but didn't you and Jeff and Stephen go to BK recently and make some plans? What ever happened with that?

Oh, I just sat and watched those plans get made. I was working that weekend. Also, I think the plans fell through.

I am looking forward to hearing about the laundry room.

Oh, if you're hoping for a story where I put in too much soap or a strangers bright red underwear winds up in with my whites I'll only disappoint. It's just a tale of needing a $10 Bill to buy my wash card and watching a fellow tenant lose her cool with the super about money she thought she had lost from her card. Totally completely lose her cool. Went berserk.
