Best Brief Assessment of the Weekend

Is it just me, or was every single stinking showing of Brokeback Mountain in the city sold out this weekend? Did anyone else have this problem? I'm tempted to buy a bootleg DVD because getting into this movie is like trying to see Titanic.

UPDATE Along the same lines, here's the teaser trailer for Mission Impossible 3. I like the part at the end when Tom Cruise gets thrown against the side of the car and the back window breaks.

Do you want to see that movie? It sort of gives me the heeby-jeebies. Am I showing the redness in my neck? Cowboys are sort of sacred.

If my effort at humor was lost on Cindy then this post was a huge mistake.

I'm scared of gay cowboy sex. I don't want to see Jake Gyllenhal and Heath Ledger "holding" each other.

If you absolutely must see a film about homosexuality, I recommend "But I'm a Cheerleader." A girl in Berkeley took me to see it without telling me the subject or the rating...which made for one strange date, especially during the lesbian love-scene. The first half is HILLARIOUS and incisive, poking fun at straights and gays alike; the latter half is embarrassingly bad. Making the protagonists homosexual does not change a tired, corny plot into something deep or daring.

Truly some of Richard Moll's best work though.

I was not going to go see M:I 3... until I saw tha phillip seymour hoffman was in it. Even in that little bit of trailer... he is awesome. I love the guy... but not in a brokeback mountain kind of way... by the way could they have given that movie a more homosexual name? Like... I don't know... Rump Rangers or something. But that would have alienated all those cowboys out there tthat don't really know what the movie's about that will see it by accident.

Brokeback mountain is about as ambiguously gay as you can get.
